Cadillac F1 picked IFS before the coffee machines
Cadillac F1 chose its ERP before it bought coffee machines.
At Gartner Symposium in Orlando, Cadillac F1 CIO Chris Green described building the team's IT from scratch over two years, starting as a department of one. InformationWeek reported the talk.
What stood out for IFS users:
- IFS holds the team's procurement, design, manufacturing, sourcing, supply chain and finance data.
- Nearly every part of the car is tracked in IFS. Servicing data from software licensed from GM flows back into the ERP.
- When some in-house parts were logged with the wrong serial numbers, the team used an IFS AI tool to trace them back. Green put it at a few days, against 20 to 50 weeks of manual work.
His view on AI: for two years, his AI strategy has really been a data strategy. Get the data right from day one and the tools become the easy part.

Most IFS customers aren't greenfield. How much data clean-up would your IFS environment need before AI could do work like this?
